Who We Are

Mission Statement

In the Spirit of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton, our mission is: to work with our neighbors to build a hopeful future.

Vision Statement

Seton Center strives to be a leading community resource for the residents of Northern Frederick County.

We will:

  • Provide emergency support services
  • Serve as a catalyst for systemic change

Many of the families we serve are working people living at or below the poverty level. Often times people who work hard to be self-sufficient find that even a minor emergency can result in unpaid bills or loss of housing. Seton Center provides services to all members of the community.

At Seton Center we are committed to serving each client and customer with great hospitality and respect. We believe in the true meaning of charity which is love. Whether the need is advocacy, information, material or financial aid, or just a really great bargain, we seek to meet these needs with integrity so that all those seeking charity find an experience of love.

Seton Center’s programs:

  • Address basic human needs
  • Stem homelessness
  • Build strong, healthy families
  • Provide referral services
  • Maintain the health of seniors
  • Provide comfort to the homebound
  • Support the transition out of poverty

In continuous operation as a social service organization in our local communities since 1970, Seton Center programs and services fill the unmet needs that county and local governments, schools and other non-profits do not provide.

What We Do

Seton Center, Inc. is a non-profit, sponsored ministry of the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent DePaul, serving Christ in the poor since 1633. Our agency is staffed by Sisters, lay persons and volunteers from all walks of life.

The Daughters of Charity Core Values are based on the philosophy of service outlined by St. Vincent de Paul and St. Louise de Marillac, co-founders of the Daughters of Charity in Paris, France in the 17th century, and later adopted here by St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in the 19th century.

Seton Center exists to support the mission and ministry of the Daughters of Charity, the driving force behind our programs and services. Our philosophy of Christ-centered service is based upon the following Core Values:

REVERENCE: honoring the dignity of each person

INTEGRITY: building relationships on trust

GENEROSITY: giving of oneself in service

UNITY: working together for the mission
